The Sea Room at Ropehawn

It could be straight out of a Daphne Du Maurier story, this impeccably renovated boat house is perched on the edge of St Austell Bay looking straight across the water to Fowey and left to the historic Charlestown Harbour. Floor to ceiling glass doors at the front are the entrance to The Sea Room where you will find a sitting room laid out to make the most of the staggering rugged bay views. The open plan sitting room is lined with well-stacked bookshelves and complete with all the mod cons by way of television, DVD and Wi-Fi tucked out of sight. Useful nick-nacks like binoculars and torches reside there also. There's a large log-burning stove for wild-weather evenings or just throw open the French doors onto your private patio area to let in the salty sea air when the weather's balmy and baking hot.

The bespoke kitchen, tucked away to one side of the open plan living area, is fully equipped with top of the range appliances (with instructions!) and a separate gas hob. There is an adjacent boot room just outside which houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and has space to hang wet suits and leave wellies to dry.

Up on the mezzanine making the most of the outstanding sea views, the bedroom has been opened up to the rafters and has views out over the bay from the king sized bed. Hidden behind some Narnia inspired carved wooden doors lies the ensuite bathroom.

A walk in wet room style bathroom making the most of the nautical clean lines, the loo is enclosed to the left. Straight through the Narnia doors with the deep sink basin looking out across the water - brushing your teeth has never been so ship shape - the wet room houses a super power shower to hose off the salt water.

The Sea Room has a private courtyard overlooking the water at the front of the property, which is a perfect spot for an alfresco breakfast or evening BBQ. When the tide is right The Sea Room has its own private shingle beach for winkling and walking. The water is also your garden and is excellent for canoeing across to find hidden beaches and clandestine coves.

Arriving by boat is by far the nicest way to approach The Sea Room, which has a private slip-way for your use. If you are arriving by car there is private parking available for you. Please be aware that between your retreat and your private parking space is Cornwall Wildlife Trust woods and a short but steep footpath. We can arrange for someone to meet and accompany you and your bags down to The Sea Room, but if you are arriving late please do be aware that sturdy footwear and torches are a must. Powerful torches are left in The Sea Room for you use.
