Stones throw from the sea
Airy, open planned and flooded with natural light, The Old Stores is just the place to call home after a day on the beach or a blowy coastal walk. A perfect seaside bolthole for a couple just wanting to escape from the 9-5. Art deco red leather sofas, deckchair stripped cushions, mohair rugs and pale grey walls work perfectly with reclaimed oak packing box tables. Original and local artworks and carefully thought out really highlight the attention to detail in this retreat. The dining area separates the galley style kitchen from the sitting room. Mind you, with the award winning restaurant 2 Fore Street next door, you have the perfect excuse to eat out.
EatingThe kitchen is fully equipped and although open plan, all mod cons are cleverly integrated out of sight, out of mind including a full sized dishwasher, washer dryer and an American style fridge freezer. Black granite tops oak bespoke cupboards and a dual fuel oven with a gas hob.
SleepingWe've opened up the whole of the upstairs to the beams and created a wonderful boutique loft-style bedroom. A king-sized bed, a double roll top bath (flood lit with tiny floor lights), New England white wooden shutters and take a closer look at the flooring, it's made from reclaimed fruit and wine crates, a subtle nod to the retreat's past as the store room for the village shop!
BathingJust in case you hadn't already heard the roll-top bath sits in the bedroom! Downstairs you will find a separate shower and bathroom room with loo, sink and walk in rainforest shower.
Outside spaceThe Old Stores has a small paved courtyard area which is a south facing sun trap in the spring and summertime (which is why only the olive trees survive there). A cream bistro set for outside dining or a morning coffee is waiting for you.
ParkingThere is a parking area allocated to The Old Stores but please be aware that it can sometimes be tricky to manoeuvre into the space during busy periods and 4X4s may find the space a bit tight. Always ask at the time of booking and we can discuss this with you. Please do budget in the car parking charge which is £2-£3 per day in peak season (weekly passes are also available). The quayside car parks are a moments' walk away and there is a larger car park at the entrance to the village as well.
