Little Pol is a gorgeous 18th century stone built luxury cottage in Cornwall. Set next to the owners house and snuggled at the end of a sheltered lane just outside the ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel, it's just five miles from the sea. Oak floors and Farrow & Ball Joa's White walls provide a background for the Heal's sofas, vintage pine dining table and hand-built kitchen. Pictures, candles and eclectic keepsakes add a dash of stylish homeliness.

Living

Walk into the spacious kitchen with its Belfast sink and waxed oak work surfaces, hang your coats on the coat pegs beside the door and relax. The sitting room is flooded with light and has two comfy sofas basking in the toasty warmth of the wood burner so you can stretch out after a day walking the Saints Way or coastal footpaths or exploring the antique shops in Lostwithiel.

Eating

A charming antique pine dining table and painted wooden chairs nestle between the sofas and kitchen, perfect for long lunches and supper parties looking out onto the glorious cottage garden.

Sleeping

Little Pol has two bedrooms with an elegant mix of old and new, the main bedroom houses a comfy king-size bed and low window that looks out over a courtyard and fields. The second bedroom has a Victorian metal double bedstead, a family heirloom that has been updated with a thoroughly modern pocket sprung mattress.

Bathing

Both bedrooms offer en suite facilities, one with a big walk-in shower and the other with its own bathroom, the perfect places to relax after long walks breathing in gallons of fresh air.

Garden

French doors lead out from the sitting room to the gorgeous enclosed garden, sheltered by an old Cornish hedge. Bordered by trees and shrubs this is the perfect place for a lazy summer's breakfast or to sup wine in the evening alongside the BBQ. There's even a shed in the garden with a table tennis set in for you to use!

Parking

There is parking for up to three cars either right outside the door or by the garden gate.

Exploring

Pack both your Hunter wellies and your flip-flops to make the most of country vs coast, Little Pol combines luxurious style with breath taking Cornish landscape. From here it is really easy to explore all of Cornwall as it is centrally located for both the north and south coast. Fowey and the sea is five miles away, The Eden Project is 10 minutes away, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Padstow are a 20 minute drive, the Cathedral City of Truro is 30 minutes away, and the sailing town of Falmouth is a little further down with beautiful St Ives 1 hour away. There are numerous beaches on both the north and south coast all within 20 minutes drive so the perfect base to explore!

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Little Pol:

This is the 2nd time we have stayed in Little Pol in the same week in November. Both times it was excellent.

Beautiful cottage and location. Plenty of space. Nice to arrive to loaf of bread, milk and treats. Libby welcomed us which was lovely.

A lovely week in Little Pol with our two children. The rain was just an excuse to spend a bit more time at the cottage! The interior was beautiful and very comfortable. The garden was fabulous. Such a quiet location - a real haven - but still so easy to get everywhere we needed during our stay.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

Little Pol lived up to all our expectations. It was beautifully presented and in an ideal location for visiting Cornwall's many attractions. We were made very welcome by the owner on arrival and greatly appreciated the goodies she left for us.

Overall delighted with our stay. The cottage felt very homely and the garden was wonderful. A really good location and so peaceful. Would be very happy to return.

Little Pol is very comfortable and homely with a beautiful garden. The location is very peaceful and has good access to all areas. Libby was very welcoming and helpful with any queries. The thoughful little touches were much appreciated, such as fresh garden flowers about the house, a fresh loaf, milk, cheese on arrival. The ducks eggs were a nice surprise too. We had a very comfortable stay. Thoroughly recommended.

The most comfortable beds and gorgeous luxury linen. Beautifully clean and lovely interior design .wonderful place for a break !

Excellent cottage with a good sized kitchen and a very pleasant living room as well as two bedrooms with ensuites. Very well presented and a nice welcome from Libby. Good location for the Eden Project and surrounding areas.

A beautifully appointed farm cottage in a peaceful, rural location with easy access to lots of Cornish attractions. Child-friendly for all ages. Highly recommended.

The cottage was stunning and the interiors were gorgeous. Lovely quiet location and a walk to the local pub and farm shops. We only went out for food twice in 5 days as we so enjoyed being there and getting the log burner going and opening a bottle of wine. We are already planning our next stay and couldn't recommend Libby and Scott's cottage enough.

We loved our stay at Little Pol - great location and hosts.

Little Pol has become our home away from home. It’s wonderful!

Heaven. Our favourite place in Cornwall. Like an oasis on a beautiful hillside.

Little Pol completely delighted us at every turn. From the beautiful lounge to discovering the ping pong table in the shed! We loved the cleverly designed interiors, the choice of books and the views like the bright pink magnolia tree perfectly framed in the lounge window. The owners were super friendly, helpful and responsive - thank you! The area is also super-quiet which was wonderful.

Fabulous cottage - comfortable, cosy and stylish. A rare combination!

A haven in a quiet setting, careful thought given to every comfort. Close to lots to do too.

Little Pol is fabulous and we felt at home immediately. The cottage is immaculate and we would definitely return!

Little Pol is a stunning property in a great location. The interior is wonderfully styled and decorated - the artwork and little touches add to its charm. Unusually the hosts / owners live next door; they are a lovely family and very helpful. Libby went out of her way to introduce us to little known Cornish highlights including walks, beaches and pubs! The welcome-pack of excellent cake (and wine!) was lovely too. We will certainly return.

Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and furnished. Great location for exploring the surrounding area.

Little Pol. provided the perfect retreat for our week's stay for four adults. The log burner was a treat when it turned a bit chilly and the garden was lovely for sitting out having a BBQ in the sun. We packed in Tintagel, The Eden Project, The Lobster Shed at The Pig in Harlyn Bay, beautiful St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula, Camel Valley vineyard, Porthcurnick Beach and the lovely village of Portscatho all of which were within easy reach of the cottage not to mention Fowey and Readymoney Beach! Thoroughly recommended.

I didn't hesitate to review after our first visit and found Little Pol to be even more delightful the second time around. So much to do in and around the area but always wonderful to return from a fun packed beach or walking day to such a cosy, welcoming and beautifully decorated cottage with plenty of space. The neighbours aren't bad either ;-)

Had a lovely short break at Little Pol. The cottage was very comfortable and well thought out with a pretty little garden. The owner was very welcoming and gave us some great tips on places to visit locally. We will definitely be back!

As above...

A beautiful stone cottage in a secluded setting, away from the madding crowds yet close enough to all of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall. The exterior and interior design were 1st class and comfortable and all exceeded our expectations. We'd recommend Little Pol and look forward to a return in the not too distant future...

A great place to holiday if you want peace & quiet whilst still having good access to key visitor attractions and the coast. Car essential. Lovely homely cottage to come back to at the end of a busy day - we'll definitely be back!
