Step through the gate at Sea Thatch and you'd be forgiven for thinking you've been transported back hundreds of years. This divine luxury cottage in Cornwall, with bags of traditional features, dates back to the 16th Century and is nestled moments from the surf in St Agnes. With hidden coves, engine houses and lovely coastal walks literally on your doorstep, it's no wonder this was a place that inspired Poldark creator Winston Graham. We can just imagine Ross galloping on the cliff tops!

Living

The front door opens immediately into the living area where you'll find a cosy space with a traditional wood burning stove, flagged floors and comfy chairs including a lovely leather sofa and a cute window seat. A stunning French oak dining table and chairs lies near enough to enjoy the warmth of the fire whilst the original fireplace at the other end of the room has been transformed in to a little snug, perfect for curling up after a surf or a day on the beach, reading a magazine or two and sipping on something delicious. With full Wi-Fi and with high-speed internet throughout the property, a large TV (with Apple TV option), Blu Ray player and a selection of films, there's plenty of modern entertainment in this luxury cottage.

Please note that due to the character of Sea Thatch, this retreat may not be suitable to those with limited mobility.

Eating

The kitchen, separate from the living area, is everything you'd expect a traditional cottage kitchen to be but with some fantastic quirky features such as the fab Everhot oven, which can only be described as a bit like an Aga in that it stays on all the time (and looks a bit like one too) but is electric and easy to use. Alongside other top-notch appliances such as a royal blue Smeg fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine, there are lovely marble tops, handcrafted kitchen cabinets to fit the asymmetrical kitchen and a lovely wooden breakfast table to sit four. If cooking's not your thing, and you fancy an extra special treat, why not think about booking Benedict Quinn, our private chef who can rustle you up a fantastic meal in advance, cater for a larger dinner party or even taking you on a foraging foray ending with a beach BBQ. Contact us for more details.

Sleeping

There are two cracking bedrooms in Sea Thatch - a lovely master bedroom with a king sized French style bed and an additional twin bedroom with wrought-iron beds and lovely beamed ceiling. There's a great dressing room too which is also perfect for a small child or a baby with a travel cot.

Bathing

The cottage may be 16th Century but the bathroom most definitely isn't! With heated stone flooring and two sets of warm towel railings, a full sized bath and a power shower, this is a luxuriously modern bathroom.

Garden

Sea Thatch is a unique cottage wrapped in glorious gardens - with hidden spaces and secret walls, walking around this property transports you to another time and place. With the garden taken care of weekly it's beautifully maintained and there are a large set of table and chairs, perfect for some al fresco dining.

Parking

There is private parking at Sea Thatch which is suitable for one large car, plus an electric car charging point for electric cars.

WiFi

Sea Thatch has WiFi so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

Dogs

Two dogs are very welcome. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

For meals at your retreat, you'll find two butchers, a fishmonger, greengrocer and delis within the village, plus the fantastic St Agnes Bakery is a must-visit. There's an excellent choice of pubs too, from the Driftwood Spars to The Tap House - both of which offer great live music. We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Sea Thatch:

A great relaxing week

Great location, with so many ameneties on your doorstep. Having a parking space is a major benefit.

Fantastic cottage in a perfect location

Amazing place would stay again in a heartbeat.

Comfy, cosy and perfectly placed for a chilled week by the sea. A short walk to the beach and pub in one direction and fantastic shops, coffee and bakery in the other.

Great location with private garden.

The garden and outdoor area was as outstanding as the interior. Well maintained and stylish. The extras (which weren’t expected), were so welcome and thoughtful.

Lovely cottage in a great location- in terms of both in St Agnes and St Agnes as a Cornwall base. Excellent welcome pack and cake! We would be very happy to visit Sea Thatch again :).

Beautiful property, excellent location and amenities close by.

Perfect cottage. Warm, cosy and very welcoming. Tucked away but within walking distance of everything that St Agnes has to offer. Absolutely lovely and look forward to coming back next year for a third time!

Beautiful house in a fantastic location couldn’t get better. Parking a great bonus. Lovely welcome treats.

Gorgeous cottage with everything we needed. Location was amazing so close to the beach and so many amazing eateries!

The retreat was in a great location, so close to the beach.

Beautiful cottage - great location on the sea road - good facilities for a perfect stay

A beautiful quaint cottage, perfectly comfortable for out family of 4 and in a great location for getting to the beach, even for little legs. We loved all the little extra touches and the welcome hamper was full of delicious treats. The beds we found particularly comfortable - not something we often say about holiday cottages! Thanks so much - we had a really lovely stay.

Quaint Cottage - Lovely welcome hamper and flowers, comfy bed and good bed linen aided a good nights sleep. Very close to the beach with restaurants on your doorstep.

Quirky cottage on an enviably close location to the beach and harbour. We liked that it was set back from the road and very quiet. Charmingly compact and perfect for a couple's break.

We had a fantastic week at Sea Thatch. The cottage is very picturesque and cosy, perfect for our family of 4. The best bit is the amazing location - it’s a few minutes walk to the beautiful beach, there are cafes and a pub even closer and a short (but sometimes steep!) walk the other way into St Agnes for some lovely places to shop and eat. Gail was very helpful too. We will be back as soon as we can!

Sea Thatch Cottage is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from Trevaunance Cove. The cottage and garden are beautifully cared for and furnished to a high standard. There are good facilities in St Agnes with lovely shops, a great bakers and excellent places to eat out. Highly recommend staying here.

Perfect cottage for walking the coastal path. Clean, comfy and great decor. Very generous welcome pack and Gail was friendly and helpful. Our cocker spaniel had a great time and we appreciated the outside hose and the enclosed garden.

Sea Thatch was perfect. Ideally situated within walking distance of two pubs, restaurants and village shops plus a stroll down to the bay. Walks from the cottage were fantastic. We didn’t need to drive anywhere. Cottage was so incredibly clean, amazing underfloor heating, log burner, fabulous Everhot and the most thoughtful of welcome hampers and flowers from the garden. We were so lucky to have chosen Sea Thatch, will definitely book again.

Beautiful thatched cottage perfect for a relaxing retreat. Everything is within walking distance, from pubs and restaurants to shops and the beach.

Great base for exploring Cornwall. Dogs loved the local beaches and we loved the local pubs.

St Agnes is a great location, with delicious food options (The Cornish Pizza Company is outstanding!). The cottage itself is amazingly cozy and welcoming - we loved every minute here!

Perfect half term break. Gorgeous cottage, everything you need in the pretty village, great coastal walks and pub dinners. Lovely beach a few minutes walk away.

Fabulously located beautiful cottage within walking distance of beach and good restaurants. Would go back without hesitation

wonderful location in our favourite place of St Agnes, excellent location and very comfortable. Doggies loved the cottage with the beach of Trevanauce a couple of minutes away, and a lovely heated floor keeping us cosy and warm ! Certainly will be back again

Sea Thatch is just beautiful and in a great location with everything you need on your doorstep. The furniture and kitchen are top notch and scrupulously clean....very important for us. This is the first time we have booked with Boutique Retreats and we are very impressed with the standard.

Fantastic location. Cosy comfortable cottage.

The most perfect retreat for a reboot/reset. The beach is stunning, cliff walks bracing and local amenities include seafood deli and local bakery. Pub a 3 minute walk. A perfect break, probably better out of season. Will be back.

Amazing cottage, just perfect in every way. Stunning location. Cant wait to return.

A wonderful cosy and comfortable cottage. We loved being so close to the beach. The local produce and homemade cake were very much appreciated, a real treat.
