Out & About

Located on the wild north Cornish coast, Perranporth boasts 3 miles of golden sands, wonderful cliff walks and spectacular surfing. The village itself has a selection of shops and restaurants close by, but it’s the natural wonders that are the draw – whether it’s exploring the South West Coastal Path, grabbing your surfboard and hitting the clear waters or just relaxing on the beach with a picnic.

If you have your four-legged friend with you, it’s good news too – the beach is dog-friendly all year around, although they are required to be on leads during July and August. Take your time pouring through our selection of luxury cottages in Perranporth, including dog-friendly self-catering accommodation, and let the tingle of excitement build as you plan the holiday of a lifetime.

Home to the UK’s only beach bar and a plethora of foodie haunts serving up tasty delights, even the most discerning gourmand will find something to tickle their fancy here. An absolute must-visit though is the dog-friendly Watering Hole; a buzzing beach bar and restaurant planted on the golden sands of Perranporth Beach. Hosting a range of major music events throughout the year, it’s a great place to soak up the sun-drenched views, lap up the tunes and dig into tasty pub grub.

For somewhere romantic to sample local fare, the Summer House restaurant boasts a unique location built into the cliffs and rewards diners with stunning views over the beach. Great for morning breakfast and light lunches during the day, the Willow Bistro sits near the beach front, while a hearty handful of cafés and eateries pepper the streets of the town. On warm sunny afternoons, nothing will beat overlooking the sea with creamy dollops of ice cream watching the surfers carve shapes on the peely rollers out back.

As well as the Watering Hole and the Summer House, there are a number of cool little venues in Perranporth worthy of your attention. The ideal spot to sit with an ice-cold bevvie or steaming cup of tea, Alcatraz is a café-bar that overlooks Perranporth beach. Especially great news, it is also dog-friendly, meaning you can sup on your tipple of choice in the company of your favourite four-legged chum.

For somewhere a little quirky to have drink, both the Deck and the Perranporth Inn enjoy surfer-come-backpacker vibes. Rock up for a glass of something exciting and a game of pool and enjoy the great atmosphere. Elsewhere, the cool and contemporary Tywarnhayle Inn has an extensive range of refreshments that can be savoured inside or outside, while the characterful Seiners Arms is a popular choice amongst locals and regularly hosts events.

Wake up in one of our deliciously dreamy Perranporth retreats and embrace the day; this Cornish destination has year-round appeal. Of course, an absolute must when visiting this sandy corner of the world is a walk on the 3-mile Perranporth beach. A golden expanse backed by dunes and lapped by the Atlantic, it is as inviting for crisp wintry walks as tropical summer afternoons. If you would like to stretch your legs further, join up with the South West Coast Path, hopping over the headland to neighbouring Holywell Beach.

If you are a keen surfer, the waves at Perranporth will be too much to resist. Don’t worry if you’re new to the sport though, there are local and mobile surf schools ready to show you the way. To learn about local history, Perranporth Museum will pique your interest with fascinating exhibits about surfing, shipwrecks, the area’s mining history, Poldark connection and more. When you have walked all you can walk for one day, head back to your luxury bolthole and crack open a bottle of fizz, toasting to another day in paradise.
